Ready for CSU or Participating CCC College-Level Mathematics Courses

If a student's EAP Math Status is "Ready for CSU or participating CCC college-level mathematics courses" then they have met the CSU ELM requirement. Meeting this requirement is the first step towards succeeding in college level math.

About the "Ready for CSU or Participating CCC College-Level Mathematics Courses" Status

  • The EAP "Ready for CSU or participating CCC college-level mathematics courses" status means that a student is ready to enroll in for-credit math courses at the CSU.
  • The EAP "Ready for CSU or participating CCC college-level mathematics courses" status is not a guarantee of admission to the CSU. Students are still required to apply and to satisfy all of the CSU college preparatory coursework.

Keeping Math Skills Sharp

  • Taking a fourth year of high school math will strengthen a student's college applications and improve their opportunities.
  • Students should consider taking an Advanced Placement (AP) math course. They may be able to earn college credit.
  • Students should consider taking pre-calculus or AP calculus if they think that they might major in any of the following areas:
    • mathematics,
    • the physical sciences,
    • the life sciences,
    • computer science,
    • business,
    • economics
  • Students should consider taking a statistics class if they think that they might major in any of the following areas:
    • journalism
    • communication
    • social sciences
  • Students should consider taking any mathematics that they find interesting if they think that they might choose a major designed for future grade school or middle school teachers.
  • Students should consider taking a math course at the local community college, if they cannot find a suitable course at their high school,
  • Students should consult with their high school counselor to determine the best course of action.
